Underground

This qualification reflects the role of underground drillers and is aimed at people who work in underground mines. Students will develop their knowledge and skills completing tasks that involve a broad range of skilled applications that are applied in a wide variety of contexts and may involve some discretion and judgement in the selection of equipment, services or contingency measures.

They will not only learn how to operate the drill, but also learn how to maintain a safe work environment, train and manage their drill crews, conduct pre-start inspections, communicate with the client, conduct maintenance, set up the work site, run effective site operations.

On successful completion of the course, they will gain a RII31820 Certificate III in Drilling Operations. A Statement of Attainment will also be issued outlining the specific units of competency completed to form this qualification.
Delivery is either at the workplace or by distance learning. There is a nominal time of 12 – 18 months to complete the qualification.
